GRCR Racing Classes
Vintage Trans-Am (VTA)


For those who love classic muscle cars, fire-breathing GTs and old-school touring cars, VTA is the class for you. Scale-accurate bodies, wide wheels and a 1450g weight makes for tyre-shredding competitive racing!
Chassis
190mm 4WD or 2WD touring car chassis with independent suspension on all four wheels that is;

A competition-level (carbon) chassis at least 3 years old OR
-
An entry-level (FRP) chassis of any age
Chassis Rules;
-
Gearing is unrestricted.

All hop ups are allowed.
-
Minimum weight of 1450 grams ready to run including transponder.

Each driven wheel must have a flexible joint, eg: dog bone/s or universal joint/s in its drive shaft.

Flat Pan (1/12th and 1/10th Track Style) chassis are not allowed.
-
The Chassis must not be shaped to gain an aerodynamic advantage.

The chassis underside must be flat and parallel to the ground along the entire length of the body.

Aerodynamic shaped parts (splitters / diffusers / tunnels / etc.) are NOT be fitted to the chassis.

Motor & ESC
-
Only BRCA and ROAR approved 21.5T, fixed timing and adjustable timed motors.

The motor should be run out of the box with No Modifications.

Only an ESC without dynamic timing, or with a Blinky mode.
Body Shells
This class is for Touring and GT cars that raced before 1993.
Many suitable bodies from manufactures like Protoform and HPI are available online or through hobby retailers. This is a fun category so we encourage scale accuracy of bodies and paintwork!
Suitable bodies include;

Classic US Muscle Cars (Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger etc.)

Classic Aussie Touring Cars (Ford Falcon, Holden Commodore, Holden Torana etc.)

Classic Euro and JDM Sports Touring Cars (Nissan 260Z, Porsche 911, Ford Capri, BMW 2002 etc.)
Body Rules
-
Bodies should be scale-accurate representations of actual cars that raced in period.

LMP, Group 6/C Sportscar and Can-Am bodies are NOT permitted.

Deck lids and spoilers as used on the actual car.

No additional skirts, raised/extended wings or air-controlled surfaces are permitted.

Body must be trimmed to trim lines.
Tyres
-
Tyre cleaner is permitted.
-
Tyre warmers are permitted.
-
Tyre additive is permitted.
-
Double-stuffing of inserts is NOT permitted.

Battery
